More looks by Akshata Honawar - January 2013, Salon International

Salon India has turned four and we celebrate the success that we have only just managed to touch.
On accomplishing this milestone, the young and dynamic, Akshata Honawar, L’Oréal Professionnel Dream Team Member, showcases her creative genius and creates four magnificent looks that draw inspiration from textures. Aesthetically captured, the shoot depicts the imagination of the hairstylist. “The hair is big, full of texture and very retro,” describes Akshata.

Her mother, Rukmini Honawar’s high level of happiness and satisfaction from work, motivated Akshata to join the industry at an early age of 13. She took her first step in the direction by assisting her mother at her salon, Runah, in Mumbai. Today after winning several awards and accolades, here she is carrying the priceless legacy forward.

Creative Director at Runah Salon, Akshata feels that the hair industry has undergone a drastic yet positive change in the last decade. Before starting afresh, she does her homework well in advance and updates herself on the latest trends. Her professional education includes courses from academies, like Runah, Vidal Sassoon, Toni&Guy and SAKS. Describing the looks she exclusively created for Salon India, she says, “The concept behind the shoot is to depict hair through various textures seen in the cold months. I have researched various fabrics that we use in the season and wondered whether hair could be made to look like it. Fur, wool, tweed and more, were the A-listers which helped me to create the same feeling with hair. Colour tones and the backdrop followed the theme.”
